What is the First Thing You Do to Make Your New Home Feel Like Home?
Moving is never easy, but military families develop and learn tips along the way to make the transition process easier for their families. Family recently spoke with three military spouses to hear their tips for making a new home feel like, 'home.' Check out their tips below!
"The first thing I like to do to make a house feel like home is set up our rooms, but especially the beds. I feel like if we each have our own personal space, we feel more comfortable in a new setting."
Keeley Golden, former Army spouse
"There are a couple of things I do in order to make my new home feel like home. One way is to start decorating. Another way is to start sorting out which rooms are which. I really feel like this starts to make each room and home feel homey."
Tiffany Morgan, Army spouse, Fort Riley, Kansas
“The first thing I do to make a new house a home is decorate and add more things that the boys like to make them feel comfortable and at home. I also like to make a favorite meal in our new house. My youngest son is autistic, so it takes a little longer to adjust to a new environment, so I try to make things as similar for him as possible."
Maria Dassay, Army spouse, Fort Sam Houston
